dont-talk-and-drive Podaci prikupljeni u SAD između 2001. i 2007. godine pokazuju kako su vozači koji su se koristili mobilnim telefonima za vrijeme upravljanja vozilom prouzročili smrt 16000 ljudi. Istraživači s University of North Texas dodaju kako su krivci najčešće bili mlađi od 30 godina.

American Journal of Public Health je objavio i da su brojna ranija istraživanja ukazala na opasnost korištenja mobitela za vrijeme upravljanja vozilom, čak i uz korištenje handsfree uređaja.

Po riječima stručnjaka, situacija je dodatno pogoršana sve češćim korištenjem mobilnih telefona koji omogućuju pristup elektronskoj pošti i nizu prilagođenih aplikacija.

Prema njihovim procjenama, svaki dodatni milijun novih korisnika mobilnih telefona je statistički moguće povezati s 19%-tnim povećanjem smrtnih slučajeva prouzročenih neopreznom vožnjom.

Zbog velike opasnosti korištenja mobitela prilikom vožnje, pokrenuta je medijska akcija "Ne pričaj dok voziš" (Dont talk and drive) po uzoru na sličnu akciju vezanu za opasnosti vožnje u alkoholiziranom stanju (Dont drink and drive), koju osobito podupire u svojim emisijama Oprah Winfrey.
