Little Free Library je neprofitna organizacija posvećena održavanju duha čitanja knjiga na životu. Do danas su pomogli u stvaranju više od 75.000 malih besplatnih knjižnica u više od 88 zemalja. Možda jedan od najčudesnijih primjera ovih malih besplatnih knjižnica nalazi se u dvorištu Sharalee Armitage Howard u Idahu.
Sharalee je kreativna umjetnica i gradska knjižničarka koja je pretvorila 110-godišnje trulo stablo u malu slobodnu knjižnicu. Howard kaže da se stablo u njihovom dvorištu trebalo srušiti prije mnogo godina, možda čak i prije 15 godina kad su kupili kuću. Kad su se grane počele savijati, jedna je pukla i pala na automobil njezinog sina, bilo je jasno da je jezgra stabla jako trula.
